Dancer Guidelines

DANCER OBLIGATIONS - ALL PROGRAMS

-
Dancer must meet all obligations in order to maintain roles in performances.  Director has complete discretion in the enforcement of this policy.

-
Dancer must meet all class and rehearsal commitments.

-
Dancer must take the minimum number of classes required for their program.  Attendance will be monitored by Artistic Director throughout the season.  Dancers will be notified of failure to comply with this obligation.  Class attendance credit will be given for rehearsals and/or performances that overlap a regularly-scheduled class.

-
Dancer must attend all scheduled rehearsals.  This includes dancers cast as understudies.  Dancer must submit an excuse form to Artistic Director a minimum of two weeks in advance of a planned absence.  Artistic Director has complete discretion in the approval of this absence.

-
Injury is not an excuse to be absent from rehearsal.  The dancer must attend rehearsal in order to maintain their position in a piece of choreography.  Artistic Director and/or choreographer have the right to remove an injured dancer from the piece.

-
Dancer must meet fundraising requirements.

-
Dancer is required to raise $300 per year through various fundraising activities.  This total amount is separated into two categories--$150 is a yearly fundraising requirement and $150 is a requirement for participation in Company's production of Nutcracker.  Yearly fundraising requirement must be fulfilled by May 15 of each year. Nutcracker fundraising must be fulfilled by November 15 of each year.

-
Dancer is required to participate in Company's production of Nutcracker and to meet all artistic expectations, as well as fundraising requirements.

-
Dancer is required to participate in New Castle Regional Ballet Summer Workshop program.  This is not an option for company dancers.  Dancers may be excused from part of the program by the Artistic Director, however, payment is required for the entire program regardless of number of classes a dancer attends.

-
Dancer is required to attend classes scheduled with professional guest teachers and choreographers throughout the season.  The following guidelines must be followed when working with a guest choreographer.

-
Dancers are responsible for taking the work given by guest choreographers with no question concerning given parts. Starting times of rehearsals are set in advance between the guest choreographer and the Artistic Director. Choreographers have an enormous task to do in a short period of time.  Exact ending time of rehearsals may not be possible to establish in advance.

-
Dancers will be given a one-half hour notice prior to the end of a rehearsal in order to arrange for transportation.  No dancer will be left unattended.

-
Dancers are not permitted to discuss their attendance problems with guest choreographers.

-
Dancers needing special consideration for an early dismissal or late arrival during a contracted rehearsal time must be given approval by Artistic Director.  This may alter the position of the dancer with the choreographer and this - Dancers with planned vacations that conflict with the choreographer's session must notify Artistic Director a minimum of six weeks in advance of the choreographer's arrival.  This absence may result in the dancer being eliminated from a piece of choreography.

-
Choreography cannot be recopied or reused by any dancers without the permission of the Artistic Director.

-
Dancer is required to control body weight.
